Common Ground: An Experiment in Virtual Collaboration for Community Solutions
We are stronger together than we are apart. It’s true of individuals, communities and their leaders. Together, leaders from the private, non-profit and governmental sectors can address and solve more of a community’s challenges than they can in isolation. This space is dedicated to the online collaboration in search of community answers. Initially we will offer case studies demonstrating the success of collaborative solutions in hopes of soon transforming this space to a virtual collaboration on questions of significance.

The Nelson and Sue Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership presented Tennessee's First Lady Crissy Haslam in the second of a Conversation Series hosted by Tom Ingram, an influential adviser to corporate and government officials for four decades on Tuesday, April 17. As First Lady of Tennessee, Haslam has introduced a three-part initiative that focuses on the interplay between family engagement and literacy improvement in Tennessee. She has been traveling the state to stress the importance of parents as first teachers, parents as education partners, and also to raise awareness for the exponential value of reading at grade level by the third grade.

Lowry on Leadership
Nelson Andrews was a friend, a mentor, and a humble hero who immeasurably blessed all who call Nashville home. I first met Nelson Andrews in 2005 after moving to Nashville to lead Lipscomb University. At our first lunch he advised: "Engage in the life of Nashville, its people and its institutions. Serve others, make the city a better place and the University will do just fine!"

The Nelson and Sue Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership announces the first of a free conversation series hosted by Tom Ingram, an influential adviser to corporate and government officials for four decades. The debut edition will feature a one-on-one with Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13.
